Mount Boppy, situated in Ngiyampaa country approximately 50 kilometres east of Cobar, New South Wales, emerged as a significant gold mining site following the discovery of gold in 1898. The Mount Boppy Gold Mine commenced operations in 1901 and, by the time of its closure in 1922, had produced over 433,000 ounces of gold, making it the largest gold producer in New South Wales during its peak.
